Remember many years ago, You taught us to grow You saw the trees apart from leaves In ways no one could know
And now you fade to the past I guess no one can last A man for all seasons your reasons So nobly grasped.
You wouldn’t change your position ‘Gainst the king’s inquisition Your name and tradition held no inhibitions
You stood. When no one else could The More you unwind the More you will find In the law’s wood.
And when the devil’s name called Those woods kept him stalled Though he stripped you of all to your name Your life would remain But he beat you again They strung you and hung you and suddenly
Off with his head!
Goodbye Tom.

I can't resist: Who the Fork is Tom? Other than that nagging question, good poem.

Sir Thomas More.
Ever read the play A Man For All Seasons?

Nope. I've heard the phrase, but until today I didn't even know it was the name of a play.
