I don't have time at the moment to spew my own thoughts out on this one, but lets just say I support an immediate cease fire and find Isreal's attack on civilian infrastructure and the cutoff of relief aid to some 800,000 displaced Lebonese to be disgusting.
Thoughts?

The only difference between Israel's actions and Hezbollah's actions is that Israel has the technology to actually hit their targets.

I'm excessively tired of the entire situation in the middle east. On one hand, Israel has every right to defend itself and its people. On the other, destroying the entire infrastructure of a country, though a sound military tactic, isn't exactly endearing, especially when your actions will affect the citizens more than the terrorists. I've almost reached a point of saying screw it, let the two of them have at each other and be done with it. They want to blow the shit out of each other, fine. For people fighting over something that's supposed to be peaceful and understanding (religion), they sure do hold a grudge. On the bright side, hey, at least they'll find out which side's right about the afterlife faster. Also, I'd like to state that it's very unlikely I'd ever let myself end up fighting in a war over there. I don't particularly like the idea of letting two factions' religious cluster Fork put me or anyone else I care about into a combat zone.

I gotta agree with Bass, Israel had every right to use this amount of force, but I disagree with how they are using that force. Bombing civilian infrastructure isn't going to help create peace over there.

This time, we're letting those Middle-Easterners beat the shit out of each other without interfering, so now we can just grab some poopcorn and enjoy the show. Ahh, and maybe be ready to sic the Red Cross on them afterwards or something too; humanitarian aid, yadda yadda, that whole drill. Maybe they aren't waging the most humane of campaigns against each other, but military intervention in foreign affairs for the purpose of protecting human rights is a policy that has been widely regarded as a terrible idea in this nation (see Iraq issue). So this time, unless we want to be hypocrites, we'll just sit back in our recliners, drinks in hand, and watch the news reports complacently.

The thing is we ARE interfering. All of Isreals weaponry and financial support comes from the US. If we cut military aid to Isreal then we would have an interesting fight on our hands.

Typically governments do not choose their actions based on what they think would prove most interesting...

I dunno, I'm pretty such Hugo Chávez works that way. I'm horribly sick right now, and that still made me laugh.
