I'm going to be posting random Elvish words or sayings and their English translations here. If you have a particular word or phrase you want to know, let me know here and I'll either post it off the top of my head or do my best to find it on COE. We'll start with the traditional Elvish greeting: Mae govannen (well met) Or, for someone you already know: Mae govannen, mellon (well met, friend) And a note on the name "Morbaruk" (since I know that's going to come up)... Mor is the Quenya (High or Old Elvish) word for "dark", and Baruk is actually Khuzdul (Dwarvish) for "axe". How he got that combination I'll never know... but it's pretty cool anyway.

He meant it, and came up with the combo himself I guess. We were discussing where that came from a few days ago.

Very funny. For those who are wondering, he said "Your Mom", only he said it "your Mom" based on his choice of capitalization, and the word naneth actually means "mother" as opposed to the Quenya ammë, which actually directly translates as "mom" and is therefore the better word. OWNED, Omeguz?

Actually, I use it in RPGs to make my elf characters more... authentic. First, I give them real Elvish names (my favorite is Morhildë -- literally, "heir of darkness"), then I can have them converse in Elvish with other characters who speak it (if they don't want certain people in the room to know what they're saying, it's extremely useful). It's too bad only certain words have been released to the public -- Tolkien actually made up a lot more than what's available right now.
Speaking of which... "angel" seems to be one of those unavailable words, possibly because there were no angels in Middle-Earth (at least as far as I know). Sorry, DA.

You could always be Morvala (dark god).

Or you could just leave it in english, since Elvish is hard to pronounce

Yea, since elvish is hard to pronounce and you wouldn't change it to that anyways...right...RIGHT!
