I beat one of the games I got for my birthday, Burnout Paradise. While I greatly missed Crash Mode, this game was still really good. The graphics are beautiful. And I don't just mean textures and whatnot - The weather is perfect, no crappy night driving or rain that lowers the quality of the graphics. No sun glare that makes it hard to see (the road gets shiny and reflects the sunlight and stuff, but it doesn't blind you) They didn't add explosions with that crappy looking fake-fire and stiff smoke. The graphics are perfect, almost no flaws. The gameplay could have been better though. The open-city environment means all the races feel the same. It doesn't matter where you start at, if most of the races end at "the Observatory" then most of the races are going to be almost identical. Road Rage and Marked Man were awesome game types though, and Stunt Run wasn't bad. As previously mentioned though, Crash Mode has been removed and replaced by some lame version that I only played 2 or 3 times. I still have a lot to do too. I still have the Elite License to earn(100+ more events needed for that.....), still have to break all the gates/billboards and find all the jumps, and I have to unlock all the cars (have 40 out of 75.) I've already been playing it for 22 hours, so there is definitely a lot of game to be played. It's a great game, especially since it has reached Greatest Hits status and can be bought for $20, but it may have been considered "BEST RACING GAME EVERRRR!" if it just would have included Crash Mode. I missed it.

I finished the other PS3 game I bought for my birthday, Fight Night Round 3 It was a fun game, but the career mode was a bit lengthy. I had planned on playing through it with some different weight classes, but after 60+ fights I'm a bit burned out on it.(I finished 57-7.) Also, I didn't even know I had finished the game when I did, I had to look up a game guide to see whether or not I had to continue on or not. There aren't any credits or anything - when you max out your character you just keeping fighting endlessly. However, as you age your stats begin to drop and you are forced to lose to the point of retirement. More realistic, yes, but also less satisfying. I never had that "I AM WINNER" moment you are supposed to get when you finish a game. The graphics are pretty good though. The fighters look great and some of the lighting in the bigger arena's (Madison Square Garden, The Staple Center, etc) look amazing. The audience also looks good...at a distance, but the ones close to the arena are a little pixelated and crappy looking. Overall it's a pretty good game though. Especially since, like the other game I bought, you can get it for $20.

I finally got 100 percent completion on Burnout Paradise. Holy shit, was it frustrating. First off, after I completed the game I thought all I'd have to do was find all the discoverables (billboards, super jumps, etc.) It took me a little while, but I got that done eventually...only to find out that I have to get the Elite License to get 100 percent completion. That required 106 wins I think it was. Stunt Runs and Races pissed me off to no Forking end. But, eventually I FINALLY completed all 106 races. Finally, after all that shit, I finally have 100 percent right? Wrong. As it turns out, you have to complete all the show times as well. This involves setting a timed record and geting a Crash high score on EVERY street in the ENTIRE city. Holy shit, no way. Well Fork it, I do it anyways. After getting even more frustrated with the lame-ass timed runs and boring myself to death with the Crash mode, I finally "own" the entire city. Finally finally finally done right? NOPE! Now I find out I have to complete all the Burnout Awards as well. GAHHHH! I was stuck at 99 percent for 2 days because I suck with the speed cars and couldn't complete the "get 20 burnouts" award, but I found a trick where I could just go in large cricle, constantly drifting and using my boost to string an infinite chain (though I stopped at 20, of course.) Anyways, at long last I finally perfected the game. My total play time was nearly 50 hours (49 hours and 16 minutes) so I definitly go my money's worth. It's a good game...but I never want to play it ever again.

I beat a few PS2 games while I was away. Resident Evil: Dead Aim I was actually on the last boss of this game the last time I played it several years ago. I could never do it for some reason, however this time when I tried it I beat it on the 2nd try, and the first one I was still figuring out the controls. The game doesn't hold up well over time, the graphics are very blurry and while this was one of my favorite resident evil games because of the style of game play, Resident Evil 4 trumps it, so it really doesn't have much going for it now. Theme Park Roller Coaster TERRIBLE. One of the worst games I've ever played I think. The game just doesn't work. Literally, I can't actually complete all the goals on the last level because it freezes everytime I start it. It's pretty bad. I remember getting it hoping it'd be like Roller Coaster Tycoon. WRONG. Smuggler's Run You know what you are getting from Rockstar games: Quality. The graphics, while dated, are still smooth enough, and the gameplay is fantastic. This game is still great today, although it can still be infuriatingly difficult on the last few missions. If you are a PS2 owner and happen upon this in a bargain bin for a couple of bucks, it's definitely still worth the purchase. Turok: Evolution Dated graphics, bad AI, and occasionally annoying missions (flying missions, or 'invisible objections' where you wander around for half an hour and stumble up on what you're supposed to be doing) really hurt the game. Although I must say, I was only on chapter 5 (out of 15) and I still liked the game enough to play through all of it, so it isn't SO bad. It's just mediocre all the way through. An OK game, but there is better (on newer systems with better graphics/AI) I also perfected Motorstorm. I now have all gold medal on all races.

Yesterday I finished Bioshock on the PS3. It's pretty damn awesome. Great story, great gameplay, and the water looks awesome (that sounds like a small thing, but the game takes place in an underwater city, and there are all kinds of flooded rooms and water running down stairs and stuff like that, and it looks great!) I will definitely be playing it again on the hard difficulties.

I just beat Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. Dare I say it? BEST MARIO GAME EVER!? I don't know, but it's pretty damn close. At the very least, it is without a doubt the best mario STORYLINE ever. Hilarious. I laughed out loud numerous times. I wasn't expecting it to be so funny. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended for Mario fans. Although the gameplay is a lot different from what most Mario fans are used to. If you like the paper Mario games though, you should love this one. It's GREAT!

I finally finally finally finally beat Black on the Playstation 2. I played straight through this game when I first bought it years ago but got stuck on the last level. I infrequently tried it over and over again from time to time but always died in the same spot (which just so happened to be about 2 feet from the exit.) I just now, about 10 minutes ago, FINALLY finished that Forker. Phew, what a relief.

As much as I am dissapointed about the direction Nintendo has taken over the recent years, I have to admit that Mario games are still very good. I have never played a Mario game that I didn't REALLY like. So yea, down with Nintendo, bring Mario to Sony! This morning I finished another game (in case you're wondering, in anticipation of Christmas money I've spent a bit of my own online. Hurray for getting used games for $10-$15.) I beat Resistance: Fall of Man This game is pretty damn awesome. Pretty good story, great graphics, and very intense gameplay. Some of the more action-orietned levels where you are on a huge battlefield with tons of friendly soldiers fighting against swarms of aliens get pretty crazy sometimes. I wasn't really planning on playing it a 2nd time, but after I finished it I was told I had unlocked new weapons for my next campaign...and now I'm interested in playing through it again. But first, I'm going to play Resident Evil 5, which my sister got for her birthday. Normally I wouldn't post what games I'm starting here...but this game is Forking hard (if the first level is any indication) and I'm not confident I'll finish it.

Finished Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble on the Nintendo DS. It could have been a decent game, but it focused too heavily on the touch screen. Oh, how I hate the touch screen. Many of the controls were unresponsive, using the "scratch" ability was a nightmare. Even when I managed to enter one of the lengthier abilities, such as "slide" I'd get stuck in it because the touch screen wouldn't register that I wanted to turn the shit off. When I wasn't struggling with the touch screen controls it was ok, but it could've been a lot better.

Hurray! I did manage to finish Resident Evil 5. ...ok ok, I have a confession to make. I played it on easy. And I still died twice on the opening "swarm." However, after I managed to survive that, it was a bit easier. I should've known, as far as I know RE games always start out with a huge, difficult swarm of zombies that is tough to get through in the opening. I'll probably play through it on the medium difficulty now...and may also play co-op with my sister. I may have finished it, but I still only have 25 percent overall completion, so there is still a lot to do.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Funny thing is I was playing it and almost got to the last level, then I started over again with my cousin's copy and played multiplayer with my cousins and beat it(They remarked how I did way better than them though! )

Just finished Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII for the PS 2. It wasn't very good. The gameplay was so-so, the voice-acting was atrocious, and I was bored as hell with the storyline. The cut-scenes were done well though, and the whole weapon-customization was pretty cool...but I was jut waiting for this one to end. It was a very long 10 hours.

Yesterday I finished The Darkness on the PS3. My sister bought with some of her Christmas money, she did what I usually do and bought it used on Amazon for $10. It's actually not that bad. Or atleast, it's better than a lot of people give it credit for. Some of the game mechanics don't work very well. For example, you have an ability called "Demon Arm" that basically let's you skewer things with a giant pointy tentacle, you can skewer a car and drop it on someone, or impale the person directly to a wall, or whatever you want. The problem is, I've got a guy shooting me with a Forking automatic rifle and when I point my red dot on him and try to skewer him, the arm, for whatever reason, decides to impale a random barrel to my left... Also, you can summon little demons, but they rarely help you. There was only 1 situation where I effeciently used the demons, during the final battle. Also, you have to shoot lights alot...you see, you need to be in the darkness for you Darkness abilities to regenerate, and there are lightbulbs EVERYWHERE, so you spend most of your time shooting them...you could retitle this game "Lightbulb Shooting Simulator 2007" and it wouldn't be entirely innacurate. On the bright side, and the reason I liked it, is the story - it's GREAT! Great voice acting, great story, you really feel bad when someone get's hurt, and if you're like me, you want nothing more than to just forking DESTROY the main bad guy. For the story alone, this game is entirely worth $10 for anyone else considering it. I wish more games would focus more on the storylines. It really can compensate for bad game play, and when it's combined with good gameplay (See: God of War) you get fantastic results. Though, the gameplay in The Darkness isn't bad, it can actually be quite good at times, it's just that it doesn't always work.

Earlier I finished another PS2 game, Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal This game is AWESOME! I actually got to the last boss when my sister first bought it years ago, but got stuck, and later deleted the file for extra space for other games. I restarted it after finishing Dirge of Cerberus, and loved it! Very funny game, yet serious gameplay that is challenging but extremely enjoyable. I'm glad I had to restart it, because I enjoyed every minute of the 15 hours it took to finish the game.

Last night I finished Bully on the PS2. This game was surrounded by a lot of controversy, and it seems it was completely unfounded. It seems some over-protective parents saw the game title and heard about some of the game-play mechanics (You can give wedgies?) and decided if their kids played it, they would go on a murderous rampage and kill large numbers of people. First off, kids shouldn't be playing it because it's rated MATURE, so only an irresponsible parent would buy it for the children in the first place, and these parents were completely off. You actually try to stop the bullying. Don't get me wrong, there's profanity, crude humor, sexual innuendo, it's a very adult game, but it doesn't teach kids how to bully, it actually argues against it. Funny, how some people will protest so strongly against things they are clueless about. Anyways, it was actually a very fun game, if not ridiculously easy. The only times I failed a mission was when navigating obstacles or being caught in a stealth mission. However, I still really enjoyed the game. While the game-play isn't challenging, the reason you play this game is for the story and the vibrant, living world. You'll come across all kinds of things when walking around Bullworth - kids putting firecrackers in toilets, setting off fireworks on the sidewalk, and big kids stuffing little kids in lockers - the world feels very alive, and definitely adds to the experience of the game. The graphics are obviously dated, but this one is still worth playing, although I should mention that if you play it on an HD TV it looks like complete crap. I've been playing my PS2 on old, standard definition TVs and it looks a lot better.

Let's hope they don't find out about Grand Theft Auto or Manhunt! Definitely! I think Manhunt was banned (or close to it) in some countries. I don't know if they censored it and toned it down or it managed to get released anyways, but I remember there was a lot of fuss about it. Haha, I suppose it doesn't! I didn't realize it had a Teen rating. Well, that still means young children can't purchase it for themselves, so my point still stands!

I just finished Hunter: The Reckoning Wayward on the Playstation 2. My sister bought this years ago, and we initially started playing it co-op, but we lost interest or something and never finished it. I restarted it before I finished Dirge of Cerberus, but lost interest again and didn't finish it until just now. It's actually a really short game, but it SOOO monotonous that it feels like it's just never going to end. The game involves hitting squre over and over again, quite literally, until the game ends. Except on the rare occasion where you actually get too surrounded by enemies, in which case you use a spell...and then you start hitting squre again. It was kind of fun playing with 2 people, but going solo on this one isn't recommended.

Gah! Finally finished Smash Cars on the PS2. There were moments in this game where I thought "Hey, this is kind of fun!" But those were very seldom, and most of the time it made me want to hurl my TV across the room. The cars are difficult to control and the AI just feels unfair. Very annoying game.
