Do you think that type 2 is boring? There are always the same cards and the same strategies. Who didn't have a deck with library disruption, treshhold or flashback theme while being on tournaments during the Odyssey aera? What is the advantage towards type 1?

Im 50/50 on that one (see my post on mirrodin thread). I play T2 in Friday night magic, so i DO play it, toughnk T1 is more fun. I DEFINATELY believe that T2 brought these terribly annoying archtypes (staple Decks) specifically UG Madness. i suppose T1 has the Mono Blue counter/control though.... I sunno, its tough to say which is more fun.

I dont like T2 as much because in order to make a good deck you need to buy a lot of one set. I prefer to make decks that are a mix of sets, old and new. My collection is very varied, with the only sets i have a lot of being odyssey and the onslought block. Plus there is an unlimited amount of deck ideas in T1 and casual, and only so many in T2.

Also if you want to buy individual cards for t2 that are rare but needed for lots of decks stores never have them unless you get them online. My friend had a goblin sligh deck and he couldnt get a goblin piledriver for like a month. Well this happens at the store closest to me so i dont know about other stores.

I don't think Type 2 is boring, but the limited card pool does make it a lot less fun than Type 1. Maybe it's a Johnny thing, but I like having a lot of leeway in terms of deckbuilding. And, in Type 2 environments you tend to get more stuck-up money players. At least that's my experience. I don't play in tournaments at all now, though.

I love T2. I think it adds more stratigy to the game because its less on how powerful the cards are (like the P9 in T1) and a lot more on stratagy. There are also always more decks out there that can be a threat to the average deck. Like, before mirrodin when U/G madness and rift were hot I would play a megrim deck and whip their asses across the board with it.

I like it. But I like Limited better. It takes strategy to a whole new level. I like playing T2, but it gets annoying sometimes if I can't be successful without spending $100.

I like T1 because there are SO MANY friggin cards to choose from. T2 is so...limited. I can't make a decent T1 deck though because i havn't been playing very long so i don't have many of the older cards.
I usually build mixed decks, since i play casual and NEVER go to tournaments and stuff.

I have to go with ApeKiller on this one. Strategies in Standard burn out soo fast that you can't even make an original deck. 4-of decks can also get verrry boring because in reality, your only looking at about 10 different cards .

I'm starting to like Mirrodin a lot actually. After I attended a booster draft, my eyes have been opened ;D.

Yeah, playing limited does help deck construction a lot, or so I have found.

T1 rules because almost every new set creates a new deck type while all the old ones remain, which creates a more diverse metagame. Diversity=good, in my opinion.

I actually think of it as a challenge to come up with an original and competitive deck while having only a card-pool of about 1,500 cards.
And I wouldn't say you get to be more original in T1. T2 limits you in terms of editions, but T1 limits you in terms of speed. When building a T1 deck, you don't usually make plans for the late game, because there is no such thing in that format (not even in Extended nowadays). That drastically reduces the amount of playable cards!

While its true you never see Draco in a T1 deck, there are decks that use cards that cost 6 or so to cast.

Actually I did see it in a T1 deck today. It was an eratic explosion deck playing in a multiplayer tourny. I woulda played and kicked ass but unfortunatly I couldnt make it in time.
