Looking for more people to block on Facebook (kidding). Nah, I just got curious about this. Any Conclavers like 45? If yes, why?
Let's keep this civil. We have an excellent track record on this site of debating politics without being assholes about it, let's keep that streak intact.

I remember being the token conservative here. But no, I voted for Hillary.

I remember you not quite being the only conservative here. But yeah, probably the most active one. What made you pick Hillary? For me, I stopped being undecided when Trump mocked the disabled reporter. My dad's in a wheelchair, so that made it personal. It's why I hate the policies of most other conservatives, but I actually hate Trump as a man.

Partly that experiences in the past several years really brought me more towards the center/left. The first time I took notice of Trump was when he made his comments about Mexicans being rapists, and I legitimately thought that the Republican party had hired him to spout crazy bullshit to make the other candidates look better by comparison. Then I saw him throw a temper tantrum because Megyn Kelly asked him a hard question during the first debate, and after that, it was pretty much over. As time went on, things just kept getting worse. Unsavory details about his past came out, he contradicted himself constantly, took a lot of really stupid cheapshots at his opponents, spouted nonsensical policy, insulted veterans, and admitted to sexual assault. And his supporters loved it. I couldn't wrap my mind around it.
I never liked Hillary, but fully acknowledged that she was the lesser of two evils in this case. I planned to vote third party, until I saw that my state was projected to be close. I knew if he won my state (which he did) I'd regret not voting directly against him.

I don't have a whole lot of respect for Trump, but he has masterfully manipulated the Republican party. He has, traditionally, been very liberal in his political views, but he won over the entire conservative party with the right lingo and the right bullshit, and conservatives ate it up. The guy is as fake as his sun tan but there are enough oafs to actually believe what he says is genuine, and meanwhile I can bet he's doing every thing he can to better himself financially after he leaves the office.
It's almost ingenious, though it's not hard to pull the wool over the eyes of fools, I guess.
I should note that I'm not a liberal either, I don't associate with either party and find both to be deplorable. I'm just an outside observer, and as someone with no personal stake, this last election has been...fascinating, to say the least.
