Now I'm just storing stuff here. You can comment if you want, but no one seems to ever have anything to say.
Firstly, sometimes it is their fault. Some people just screw up on their own. Some are stupid and get addicted to drugs. Some never learned how to work hard. That said, as an American, you should still subscribe to the American way of life, which is based on the American Dream. What is the American Dream? It's the belief that anybody, no matter how poor, should be able to work their way to the top through hard work. Sounds like a good ideal, right? Right.
So does the American Dream currently exist in the United States? The answer is simply no. Statistically, if your parents are poor, you will be poor. The greatest determining factor in whether or not you suceed in life in the United States is the wealth of your parents. So let's ask, does this follow the example set by the American Dream, that hard work should be the greatest determining factor in whether or not you suceed? The answer is clearly no, which is bad.
As a true patriotic American, you have a civic duty to help reinstate the American Dream that your country was founded on so that you can help carry on the American way of life. This means you, as a real American, have a duty to support initiatives to make university and elementary school cheaper for all people, but especially those who are poor. You have a duty to make sure unions are strong so that hard-working individuals get paid fairly for the work they do so they can move up the social ladder. You have a duty to support lowering the cost of health care because one of the greatest strains on poor families is the poor health they suffer because they cannot afford high quality food and sanitation. You, as a patriotic American, have a duty to help these people get a chance to live the American Dream and follow the American way of life.
That isn't to say there won't be some who will just take your money and thumb their nose at you, but as a patriotic American you have to realize that you're better than them, and more importantly, that even if it seems like there are an awful lot of people who aren't fighting for that American Dream and American way of life there are even more who will use your help to make a life for themselves, as the Founding Fathers would have wanted. Simply put, what's more American than doing your part to help people live the American Dream?
