in my opinion, the best book evah. read it 7 times already and am considering doing it again sometime soon. i think it's better than the LOTR series, what with it being simpler and yet extremely more complex. it is a metaphor for (duh) the world's situation in those times, and the point of view of the general population. but they say you only find a hidden meaning in something if you want to find it. let's leave it in the best fantasy book ever written, leaving politics and whatnot out. kudos, Mr. Tolkien.

Yeah, if you want to throw politics into the mix, LOTR becomes an environmental statement... Anyway, I really liked The Hobbit, but not as much as The Silmarillion.

oh, the Silmarillion is excellent too, and i like it better than LOTR too, but nothing beats the Hobbit in my book. *giggle* "my book"
