Ok, I am going to do what this section was created for, and actually part of what this site was created for....create an RPG. This will be similar to the conclave adventures, but there will be more guidelines. It will be based partly on MTG and partly on your favorite fantasy genres. As in, all of the different storylines will be treated as if they occured on different planes. Such as the shannara series, LoTR, eddings stuff, whatever. So the characters can interact and travel by planeshifting. Those who aren't planeswalkers can do so by various means of creating portals, such as spells and artifacts.
I will make a separate thread for character profiles. Try to keep the power level toned down. Nothing more powerful than a planeswalker. And all planeswalkers have to have a detailed history and an explanation of how they ascended, so if you want the power, you have to exercise some writing talent. If I feel that a walker has too little history, I will ask you to write more, or you will need a different character.
All other characters should have a pretty good history, no format needed, but copy/paste mine if you need guidance. I will begin the story, with my character and a basic beginning, and the next person can start from there.
Rules:
-NO killing other people's characters, unless you both discuss it through pm's first, and it is agreed upon.
-No references to modern times. Technology is allowed, but only artifice and machines powered by magic. No intelligent machines like computers, only golems and guardians and such powered by magic.
-Try to keep all actions you make as interesting and detailed as possible. Describe how you kill or destroy, the casting of the spell, rather than just pointing at something and having it blow up
That's it, have fun! and I hope this takes off.
::Lord Morbaruk sits, brooding, atop a mountain in his domain. He has chosen this plane for its emptiness. No one will disturb him here. He needed to concentrate on the designs for his war-golems. All his last 4000 years had been spent thinking about the design, and putting his plans into action. Now that his war-golems were complete however, he had little use for them. The enemy for which he had created the golems to destroy had long since died. Caught up their creation, he forgot that the lifespans of mortals were finite, and that the warlord who had massacred his people would be dead long before he was finished. Alas, he could feel though that he yet had some purpose....something important was brewing. Not knowing yet what it was, or what to do, he sat, waiting for the return of his scouts, who he had sent out with simple instructions: Find from every plane you come to, the most powerful being you encounter, and bring him to me.
Morbaruk did not know why he had done this, only that he had an immense feeling of dread, and he felt he would know what to do when these heroes were assembled.::
*Elfie is walking through the forest with an Elf-Girl*
(OOC: There is always an Elf-Girl. There just is. Why? Because I say so. Oh yeah, also because it's a medium for dialogue.)
Elfie: *hears a branch crack* Did you hear something?
Elf-Girl: Was it a high pitched squeaking noise followed by a series of clicks?
Elfie: No. *thinks* Wait. Why? Do you hear that?
Elf-Girl: No, just trying to be helpful.
Elfie: Oh, right then. You may want to hide.
*the Elf-Girl hides in the bushes on the left, while Elfie hides in the bushes on the right*
*fires an arrow with a rope across the ground, creating a trip-wire for whatever is approaching*
*a loud thud is heard and the Elf-Girl stands up to see what happened*
Elfie: No! Get down!
*a scout with a dark look to it looks up from the trip wire he has triggered to draw out his prey to see the Elf-Girl*
Elf-Girl: What?
*Elfie sees the scout attempting to cast a spell*
Elfie: No way! *casts Abeyance cutting off the scout's spell and longshots the scout next to him and ties him up*
Scout: You! You're the powerful one! Come with me!
Elfie: Uh, why?
Scout: Because you're needed.
Elfie: Why didn't you say so at the start?
Scout: ...I'm not sure really...
Elf-Girl: Elfie, he's got some sort of communicator. Look!
Scout: No! You'ren't the right one!
*the Elf-Girl grabs the communicator, triggering a teleportation device that starts to teleport them away*
Elfie: Here, take this. *gives her a strange device* I'll find out where you're going and get you out of this.
*the scout and the Elf-Girl continue to phase out*
Scout: Lord Morbaruk needs the most powerful per plane and will be - *the teleportation completes leaving the sentence dangling*
Elfie: Morbaruk you say? Alright, alright. Let's go. *activates dimension-shifter* I need to find somebody who's the most powerful on another plane, and I have an idea where I'll find that person. *thinks* Why am I talking to myself? There's no one else here. I've really got to stop that.
*planeshifts away*
*In an old country town, abandoned by it's people, Janus Wilder can be seen, sword sheathed on his back, wandering the lonely town. All around he sees run-down buildings of the once great and prosperous town. Then those bandits came and depleted the entire population. This was Janus' home, from long ago. He returned to reminisce on those many memories. This magic swordsman who is normally always to himself and never shows emotion, is now crying, but making sure not to make a sound. Then all of a sudden he feels a presence behind him. So he dries up his tears with one quick swipe of his hand, and turns around and unsheathes his mystical sword, glowing a red color.*
Who's there?
*DarkAngel, lord of the plane Jihova, sits on his throne, listening to the report of daily events by his assistant, Higlu. DarkAngel is barely listening to the short, bulky assistant. His mind is elsewhere, still reliving that moment that happened over 3000 years ago...The moment that he became a Planeswalker.*
He still remembers the moment as though it happened just last week. Back then, he was known as Geroth. His bestfriend, Fraog and himself, were hiking up a mountain together, when they were attacked by a powerful mage defending an artifact in a cavern unknown to Geroth and his companion. The mage however, did not want to listen, he magically attacked Geroth, but Fraog, dived into the path of the spell, sacraficing himself to save his friend. Both the mage and Geroth stood shocked after Fraog's death, DarkAngel can still remember the look on his friend's face. Geroth, in his rage, unsheathed his sword and charged at the mage. The mage was caught off guard, and Geroth slew him up on that cold mountain top. Still overwhelmed with rage, Geroth continued to journey up the mountain, eventually finding the cavern that the dead mage was protecting. Curiousity finally taking control over rage, Geroth went to explore the cavern. In the middle of it, stood a large, blue crystal, emitting a dull nimbus of blue light, faintly illuminating the cavern. Geroth, his attention fixed upon that crystal, began to move towards it. Upon touching the crystal, Geroth felt a giant surge of power rushing through his body. When he finally released his grip on the crystal, he felt entirely different. He knew that he was no longer the young man Geroth who lived in a farm with his mother and father and his 2 sisters, but that he was something different. He had become a planeswalker.
*Planeswalker. That one word changed his life forever. Shortly after his accesion, he changed his name to DarkAngel, and left his former life behind him, drifting from plane to plane, hoping to find some of his own kind. He soon found out that he excelled in Red and Green magics, because of his homeland, which was mostly mountains are forests. He could still use the other 3 colours of magic, but with more difficulty.*
*Higlu finished his report to DarkAngel, and left the throne room.*
*DarkAngel let out a large sigh, and prepared to retire for the night, when he felt something. Someone had planeswalked onto Jihova. DarkAngel, overcome with curiousity, stormed out of his castle, to the protest of the palace guards, and began to venture towards the spot where someone has planeswalked to Jihova for the first time in over 2000 years. His mind rushing, he finally found the spot where the planeswalked occured. What he saw surprised him. Before him, was a male elf.*
DA: Who are you? Why have you come to this plane?
Elf: I am known as Elfie. I have come here to find the ruler of this plane, the one known as DarkAngel.
DA: Search no longer, for you have found him. Why have you come searching for me?
Elfie: You will find out soon enough.
*DarkAngel feels another being come into this plane, very near by. DarkAngel turns towards the being, and sees what appears to be a scout.*
Scout: I have come to find the most powerful being on this plane, are you him?
DA: I am the supreme ruler of Jihova, why do you search for me?
Scout: Lord Morbaruk has requested that the most powerful being on each plane be brought before him.
DA: Morbaruk...I know of him. He is a great planeswalker who hasn't been heard of in over 2 millenium. We all thought he was dead.
Elfie: Sorry to interrupt, but can we get on with this? Another one of your scouts took my friend by mistake to your master, and I must find her. I can demonstrate my powers to you, but you would not live to take us.
Scout: Lord Elfie, *bows*, I would be honoured to deliver you to my master. *Turns towards DarkAngel*. Are you coming?
Elfie: Of course he is, now let's go.
*DarkAngel, dumbstruck, decided that he should go with these two strange people. The scout pulls a strange looking device out of his cloak, and soon the three of them begin to teleport to a different plane.*
*Piñata stopped suddenly, feeling a new presence in the woods. He looked around, saw movement in the trees, and headed toward it.*
(OOC: What I'm doing in the woods, and also what plane I'm on, won't be important to the storyline, so I'm leaving those details out.)
*Piñata circled around behind the intruder, then came out of the bushes at full speed, hitting the intruder in the back and slamming his face into a nearby tree.*
Piñata: Who are you, and why are you following me?
Intruder: I'm a scout sent by the Lord Morbaruk to recruit the most powerful person on this plane.
Piñata: You've found me. Recruit me for what, exactly?
Scout: I don't know... I'm only following orders. If you go with me, you can ask Lord Morbaruk.
Piñata: Fine then. Lead the way.
*The scout activates his teleportation device, and the two of them are gone*
Arnostale lay completely still perched on a branch in the canopy of the jungle. Still laying, with eyes closed and at ease Arnostale lifted one ear and listened to the cracking of branches below.
Slowly she opened one eye and then the other. She peered down and saw an unfamiliar figure wandering around below her.
Suddenly, and without warning, Arnostale leeped from her branch. Only when she had pinned him to a tree nearby did she finally speak.
"Why are you here?" She demanded.
"I'm a scout, I was sent from Lord Morbaruk, I was told to bring you to him" The scout replied.
"Bring me?" Arnostale let out a small chuckle, her arrogance seemed to always get the best of her.
"Yes, bring you." The scout said with a strong tone.
Arnostale agreed to go, out of curiousity more than anything else. Along the way Arnostale wondered what this "Lord Morbaruk" might want with her.
(((OOC: sorry if I'm being really dumb, but Morby, could you RP the guy that was behind Janus? I like to work with something and not RP NPC's on my own)))
((Oy. Just do it yourself, SC, it's not hard. It's just a scout))
-=The Super Bass, the last of the sworn protectors of the Land of Choir on the plane of Mewzeek, is on a routine patrol. The last of the Mega-Tenors long since defeated, he exists now only as a figurehead. After his routine rounds, he retires to the city bearing his true name. In his castle, he sits, bored with life in general. So bored, in fact, that he's begun studying the magics of another plane...the nearby plane of Dominaria, to be precise. Although far from adept, his magical knowledge is what helped vanquish the last of the Mega Tenors=-
-=Suddenly, he senses a being entering the plane. Knowing not who or what it is, he readies himself for battle. The being is coming to his castle, and fast. The Super Bass goes out onto his balcony, and sees what looks like a fireball approaching. He guards himself, but the fireball stops short, and a man appears in front of him=-
Scout: You have been summoned to attend a meeting of powers, headed by my Lord Morbaruk. You are to come with me immediately.
Bass: I cannot. I have to guard this plane. Your problems are of no concern to me.
Scout: You are to come with me immediately.
Bass: I told you I cannot and I will not! I am not going to abandon my people to go on some silly adventure quest thing at the whim of a being I've never met!
Scout: You...refuse?
Bass: Yes...I refuse.
Scout: Lord Morbaruk will not be pleased.
-=The Scout immediately disappears, and The Super Bass thinks he's gone for good, and becomes relieved. A minute later, the being returns=-
Scout: Lord Morbaruk has decided.
Bass: Decided what?
Scout: This.
-=The scout produces a crystal. As he holds the crystal up, the entire plane is absorbed into it=-
Bass: NOOOOO!!!!! DAMN YOU WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?!
-=Bass grabs the scout's throat, but the scout merely holds up the crystal, now with a chain attached=-
Scout: You are to take your plane with you, in this necklace. Don't worry, everyone is fine. But until your duty with Lord Morbaruk is resolved, you will not be able to get in, nor will anyone else. No one will be able to leave, either. Now, come. There is much to do.
Bass: Lord Morbaruk...fine. I will do my "duty" with Lord Morbaruk. And when my plane is returned, I will do my duty to my plane. Lord Morbaruk...the fool that he is...will have consequences to deal with.
-=Bass and the Scout 'walk to Lord Morbaruk's plane=-
(((OOC: Fine....)))
*The figure appears from behind a collapsed building, looking directly at Janus.*
Scout: I have come in search of the strongest in each plane...
Janus: Plane? *looks up and around* I don't see any planes...
Scout: so, you are unaware of the many planes.
Janus: You are a fool, I don't have time for people that are as crazy as you.
*Janus turns around and is about to leave the town, but then the scout knocks him on the back of the head with a blunt object and Janus passes out.*
*ApeKiller remains deep in the chambers of a temple found in a dark forest outside the city he grew up in.(see info) All that is seen of Apey is his back. Hunched over a table, apey sits in a wooden chair in a dim room. The only light being a small candle hanging above his head. The sounds of pages turning are heard*
*A clicking noise is heard and Apey turns his head, revealing his face. Pale skin, white eyes, and deep black hair, Apey stares blankly into the darkness of the chambers for a few mintues before returning to whatever book he is reading*
*Another clicking noise is heard and Apey jumps up out of the chair and stares into the darkness again*
Who is there!?
*nothing is heard*
*Apey sits back down and begins talking to himself*
So many years i've searched for those who mutated me into this monster. I've read through their books...there is nothing here...NOTHING. So what am i to do...people fear me, and the only ones who might accept me are long gone...and now i'm talking to myself.
*Apeys pull out another book and reads the title*
"To Become a Planeswalker"
((OOC: When ape posts about how he gets picked up by the scout, we can start.....))
((OOC: My bad, i thought a couple other people still had to be picked up ))
*Apey closes the book named "Too become a Planeswalker"*
(to himself) So these freaks have been gathering people from all different kinds of planes...huh?
*a howl is heard from deep inside the chambers*
Maybe my hordes of vampiric beasts can help...if only i could find some help...some more of these...planeswalkers
*Another clicking sound is heard in the darkness*
ApeKiller(screaming) Who dare venture into my temple!
Scout(squeaky voice): Uh...m-m-me, sir.
Apey: Show yourself
*The little scout scoots into the light*
Apey: What do you want?
Scout: L-Lord Mor'Baruk requires y-y-your assistance
Apey: And why should i go with you? *ApeKiller opens his mouth wide, revealing his 2 fangs*
Scout: B-B-Because...he needs the strongest from each plane...
Apey, thinking to himself: Another planeswalker...he can help me find others like me
*ApeKiller grabs the scout by the collar*
Take me to him
On an unnamed plane, a nondescript tavern sits on a street corner in a snowy city. A snowstorm buffets the few people that remain on the streets. It looks no different than any other ordinary tavern, but it is special in that it is about to have some un-ordinary customers.
The tavern is crowded with people taking refuge from the storm, but most are quiet and the noise in the bar does not rise above a dull drone. Suddenly, the door bursts open and a man strides in amidst a cloud of snowflakes. His dark coat seems to be a cloak of shadow, and his wide-brimmed hat hides his facial features. He gazes at the onlookers with one fiery red eye and one an icy blue. The other patrons quickly return to their drinks and conversations, clearly intimidated by this forbidding, heavily armed stranger. He walks up to the bar, throws a number of gold coins on the counter and says to the bartender in a deep and suprisingly soothing voice: "A round of drinks for everyone, and a birch beer for me." Suprised by this amazingly generous gesture, the bartender quickly complies and the other customers no longer find the need to cast wary clances at the fierce man in the dark coat.
Taking up a seat in a dark corner, the stranger stares out into the crowded room, drink in hand, but his mind is elsewhere.
Snow. Snow, just like that day, 966 years ago. My son saw snow for the first time. We all went out to play. I remember my wife, standing besides me as I helped my son put the snowman's face together. The carrot for the nose, the coal for the eyes and mouth...There was a strange sound then. The snow that fell around me becme strange...what was strange...ahh the snow was red...i suddenly realized that it was not snow, but blood. My wife...my son...lying in th snow...the snowman's face was covered in their blood. It stared at me, mocking me...The spell that hit them was meant for me...
Scythe "Wanjac" Raymon awoke from his reverie, still sitting in the corner of the tavern. He pulls a battered photograph from his pocket. It showed him standing with his family in front of their traveling mechanical home/wagon. "I swear I will avenge you, Raine, my wife, and Zelos...my son.... " he whispered to himself.
Suddenly, a figure slides into the chair besides Wanjac. Without thinking, he whips a dagger from his belt and holds it against the intruders back without batting an eyelid.
"Wait, please!" whispers the scout, not wishing to attract the crowd's attention. "I am only bearing a message! I intend no harm!"
Wanjac replies, "One can't be too cautious..." He snaps his fingers, and the blade whips through the air and lands back in its sheath. "What is your message?"
The scout replies: "My lord, Mor'Baruk, seeks the strongest beings throughout the multiverse to aid him."
Hmm, this could be an opportunity to find a clue as to the identity and wherreabouts of my family's killer... Wanjac thinks to himself. "Ok! I will meet with this Mor'Baruk!" He says to the scout. "lead the way." With that, the scout and Wanjac planeshift away. beforse disappearing from the bar completely, he smiles to himself and wispers a single word: Vengeance...
Piñata looks around at the room the scout has brought him to. He can sense others here, but the room is too large, and there is not sufficient lighting with which to see them. Frustrated by the lack of light in the presence of potential enemies, he draws his wand, holds it aloft, and mutters, "Lumos". A light from the tip of his wand illuminates a diverse crowd... in addition to the scouts (easily identifiable by their matching uniforms), who are mostly human but also occasionally represent other species, there are several more powerful beings. Two Elves -- one male and one female -- stand off to one side, accompanied by a human and guarded by two of the scouts; what appears to be a cat warrior -- and a female to boot -- lounges carelessly in a corner, with another scout watching her; a young man with a sword on his back stands with another of the scouts; another, even more heavily armed, man in a cloak and a wide-brimmed hat leans casually against a wall, watching alertly for signs of danger; and a pale creature whose species Piñata doesn't recognize stands in the center of the room, only a few feet away from Piñata. Like the broken-nosed scout who escorted Piñata, this creature's scout seems to be almost afraid of the being it is assigned to guard.
"All right," Piñata says, "which one of you is Lord Mor'Baruk?"
I will make a separate thread for character profiles. Try to keep the power level toned down. Nothing more powerful than a planeswalker.
