Skullclamps been banned(sigh...) Yup, the lord of broken equipment(not that there's many) is gone.
What should replace it in the average affinity deck?
Obviously, some players will veer off, just as they do with ornithopter or Somber Hover Guard. But up until now, the clamp has been in the little pile of indisposable cards, which also includes Frogmite, Ravager, Myr Enforcer, and Arcbound Worker. My thoughts are that either Cranial Plating(that equipment that gives the creature +1/+0 for every artifact you have. I thik its called cranial plating), Mask of memory, or Thirst For Knowledge will replace the gaping hole that was once Skullclamp. WHat are your thoughts?

Well, with Skullclamp banned, maybe Rafinity players will take their Arcbound Workers out of their deck, and replace them with the good ol' Ornithopter. Then replace the skullclamp with the Cranial Plating. But i dunno, Rafinity IS all about sacrificing everything (or atleast thats how i've played it on MWS) so the plating isn't working at it's full potential. Cranial plating is rather pretty though, it should see some gameplay.

Skullclamp needs to be replaced with draw. Thirst for knowledge and thoughtcast should already be in the deck. Mask of memory is a good one, curiousity, skulltap, nights whisper, etc.

ive been examining the different options for this. Mask of Memory, Cranial Plating, TfK, Night's Whisper, even Skulltap. i agree that it needs to be replaced with draw or the deck becomes too inconsistent, so the Plating is out. i personally like the Mask, cause i believe TfK is slow for this deck at 3 mana. tap is surprisingly decent and Whisper doesnt disappoint. Cranial Plating can probably give BroodAffinity a second wind (*hopes*). overall, i would choose the Mask or Whisper. Plating in RA is just contradictory.
and i dont see why you would put Thopters in for the Workers. the Modular gives you options that could win you the game. if you throw the counters in the Thopter, they know to Shatter your flyer. if you throw them on the Worker, you can send them to another creature.

Meh, i'm not much of a T2 person. I just figured that, since you can't skullclamp the workers anymore, they become less useless. But what do i know, eh? And i already have a deck that puts Cranial Plating to good use...maybe i'll post it in a bit. edit - posted it in the decks for critique board. I don't know how good it would be in T2, but it's pretty fun in casual.

the workers are an integral part of ravffinity. Modular creatures essentailly make the ravager's ability +2/+2, whereas the thopter gives only one counter.
After some playtesting and thinking, I'd go with the mask of memory. Skulltap is really quite good but all that needs to happen is for someone to counter it once before you realize what a liability it is.
