This news is a couple months old, but I just saw it. Wizards announced the name of the next block, it's going to be called Zendikar.

The first word I thought when I saw the logo was "Aztec." I'm not saying it will have an aztec them, but it sort of has that primitive look about it. Though the name almost sounds more scince-ficton-y to me. Maybe just because it starts with a Z. Anyways, certainly looks interesting.

It's possible, but the logo looks so primitive. I keep picturing the set taking place in some primordial jungle or a desert (again with the ancient egypt/arabian theme.) If it were atrifact-themed, the artifacts would be more...traditional, unlike Mirrodin. I'm thinking stone clubs and maces. Maybe an equipment-heavy set?
Also, since it looks so primitive, maybe it's a prehistoric or stone-age-esque set with a reprint of Imperiosaur...

Although I'm sticking to my guns with the Arabian themed set. Just look at Shah of Naar Isle and Seht's Tiger.

There's no doubt in my mind those are hinting at an Arabian-themed set. Maybe Zendikar will be the one. *shrug*

I was reading on mtgsalvation.com about a new green planeswalker rumored to be from the set. They only had art for her though.

Yea, I saw that announced on the Wizards website actually. There is a new M:tG videogame for the Xbox 360 (it's the actual card game, not like Battlegrounds) and they showed the pic of the green planeswalker. It was kind of cool I guess, but the article said it was editted a bit to "cover her up" because the character was a bit too...exposed to be featured on the cover of the video game.

turns out shes not that great after all, you have to build her using elves and they have to be nissa's chosen.

She's not bad. You can search out the 2/3 Chosen when she first hits play and then use it to constantly protect her (if you block and it dies, it goes back into your library to be brought right back again) so that really helps. It might as well be +1: put a 2/3 token into play (with a maximum of 4 tokens) which is pretty similar to Garruks -3 ability. Except hers is going to lead to a (practically) instant win ability.
I'd play Garruk over her, but she isn't too bad.
For anyone who hasn't seen the cards: Nissa Rivane Nissa's Chosen

Yeah, I'm still gonna play Garruk over her. Though she isn't bad, I don't think they're are going to be enough relevant elves in standard to make her last ability useful.

Ah, I didn't think about the lack of elves in Standard. I haven't played since Lorwyn and I'm still having nightmares about those damn Imperious Perfects.

I'm struggling to build a new competitive type 2 deck now that my lands for 5 CC have cycled.

Damn, another 4-mana Wrath effect?
I guess it's a little weaker since it allows regeneration, but still.

I cracked Roil Elemental and Emeria Angel in the sealed and went 3-1. As for the Day of Judgment, it pisses me off that wizards is printing old cards with new names. It really shows that they just want to boost profits by cycling out classic old cards like Wrath of God. They use the excuse of "we want everything to make flavorful sense."

But if you play in vintage, legacy or extended you can play the new ones with the old so it's like 8X copies of it!
